We have been working on puzzles this week. We did a 100 piece puzzle together several times! They are GREAT at putting puzzles together and working as a team.

September 17th we will have an Open House from 3 to 6pm. Invite families to come by and see what we are all about. They and their children can experience our theme based learning through play environment.
September 18th we will have a multi family yard sale and Open House from 7 am to 2 pm.

The preschoolers are learning about calendars and the days of the week. Consistency and a schedule is very important to young children. When they are able to know what day of the week it is or where in the daily schedule we are they feel more secure and confident. Each day Miss Crystal sings the Days of the Week song with them during group time and they look at the calendar. They talk about what numbers and days they have put up and what comes next. They also count how many days until "Happy Friday". These are all math and reasoning skills they are working on.
We are planning to have a Transition to Kindergarten meeting for the parents hopefully with the TTK staff from the county and city program. That date will be announced as soon as I have it.

Transition to Kindergarten 2010-2011

We are looking forward to the coming Transition to Kindergarten year, which begins in September. We have alot of exciting learning activities planned. As we do each year, we will take a field trip to Candler Elementary to our partner kindergarten class. This helps the children see that the kindergarten classes are set up just like our classroom. They also see that there are alot more friends in kindergarten. This transition activity helps them adjust to the change from preschool to kindergarten. Over the school year we will partner with this kindergarten classroom and experience different aspects of kindergarten. We will visit the library, participate in special activities in the classroom, have recess, eat lunch in the cafeteria, tour the school and meet the different teachers and staff.

Toward the end of the school year we will talk about bus safety. We will tour a bus, take a ride and learn how to get on, off and ride on a bus.

Throughout the year we will write letters to our partner class so the children can ask questions to the other children and get answers from kindergarteners experiencing this new venture!

We look forward to preparing our TTK class for the next big step in their lives : Kindergarten!

Transition to Kindergarten Plan

Our Transition to Kindergarten plan is to prepare the rising kindergarteners to enter elementary school with the skills they will need to have a successful kindergarten year.
